Neck pain is a common complaint, especially in the age of screens. Four tips to prevent it.
1. Move enough
A stiff neck often comes from sitting too long in the same position. Turn your head, do simple exercises, walk around a little. Every fifty minutes a five-minute break does more than you think.
2. The right posture
Back straight, feet on the floor, monitor at eye level. Relax your shoulders, many people raise them unconsciously. A chair with good lumbar support is an investment, not a luxury.
3. The sleep position
Mind your sleep position. A good pillow adapts to head and neck. Sleeping on your side is most advisable. The pillow for a side sleeper is higher than for someone lying on their back. The distance between shoulder and ear must be filled without the neck bending.
4. Warmth
Keep your neck muscles warm. A warm scarf, even in wind. In case of pain: a warm shower, a cherry-stone cushion or infrared light. With persistent complaints: consult your doctor.
