A good breakfast is not a side matter. It is a conscious start to the day, 300 to 400 calories, put together with variety.
The building blocks
The building blocks are simple:
- fibre from wholegrain bread, muesli or granola
- dairy such as semi-skimmed milk or yoghurt
- vegetables or fruit
- enough fluid, water, tea, coffee or fresh juice
- a knob of butter or a slice of cheese
- as few fast sugars as possible
Eggs are fine, but no more than once a week.
Two additions
Begin the day with a glass of lukewarm water with lemon, which gets your metabolism going. And prepare your breakfast the night before. That way the morning begins more calmly. Whoever takes 15 minutes to breakfast quietly gets them back tenfold in the hours that follow.
