Real down or synthetic filling

A synthetic filling looks practical at first sight: affordable, light and washable. But synthetic and real down behave fundamentally differently through the night.

What polyester does not do

Polyester handles warmth and moisture less naturally. Moisture can build up, so the bed feels clammy. Over the years the filling can clump and lose volume.

What real down does

Real down holds air in every cluster. That air insulates. At the same time down can absorb moisture and release it again when aired. So the bed stays fresher and the filling recovers its volume.

The lifespan

A good duvet can be professionally washed apart, redistributed and adjusted when needed. So it often lasts far longer than a synthetic alternative.

The choice over years

Those who only look at purchase see one difference. Those who look at years see another. Comfort is not only what something costs today, but how long it keeps working quietly.

The difference after a few years

Synthetic can seem practical at first. The difference becomes clearer over time: volume disappears, moisture hangs around more easily and the filling recovers less well. Real down can, with care, be freshened again.

" het the difference becomes clearer, night after night.."
