How a duvet breathes again

Cleaning begins with assessment. We first look at the state of the duvet, as not every duvet asks for the same. Only then does the atelier advise what is needed.

Opening the duvet

The seam is opened and the filling is fully emptied out. That is done with care. With a cassette duvet, every cassette must be opened one by one. That is why honest assessment beforehand is important.

Down and casing apart

Down and casing each go into their own machine. Not into a normal home washer, but into a specialised down washer. It works with space, mild cleaning and a quieter rhythm. The down can open up again like a flower.

Refilling

We then refill the duvet with the washed down. Evenly distributed, expertly closed. The lightness returns. Not by haste, but by the right order.

Why separate washing matters

Down and casing do not ask the same treatment. What is good for the fabric is not automatically good for the filling. By cleaning each separately, every material gets exactly the space and gentleness it needs. A duvet washed as a whole is only freshened.

What returns after the wash

A good wash must do more than clean. It must bring back lightness. When the down opens again, comfort also returns: not new in the commercial sense, but fresh, dry and resilient once more.
